A LITTLE RELAX - OPENED AGAIN TANGO SCHOOL "CUARTITO AZUL" IN ROTTERDAM (english)

For those who happened to be passing between the main station and the Graphic Lycee in Rotterdam, surely would find pleasure in the visit lovely inner of the very pretty blue house that peeks into the street, in which there is the most popular Tango School of the city: Cuartito Azul.
Originally this school was located in another area of the city, but Hugo and Marieke (the two owners and teachers of the school of dance), they decided to change location and change the climate in the interior, much more groomed, professional and cultural first (although already for years Cuartito Azul had shown to the public as a very educated school and looking to the future), using more space for teaching and music in action.

That Holland forwards a large number of Dance Studios, compared with the number of inhabitants, it
already knew, at the same level as it is always known the reputation of Danny Malando, who took the direction of the orchestra of Latin American music after his father, as well as Andres Rieu makes dream for half the world with his pleasant music and amazing orchestra. We went to visit the school Tango Cuartito Azul and we also spoke with the two docent and owners of the school, Hugo Buiten and Marieke Timmer, where other teachers give their contribution to the uptake of the dance heritage of humanity: they are Hendrik Jan van Rijswijk with his wife Ester Huijnen, Regina Martinez Lerma, Stijn Rademakers and Debora Soto.

An elegant lobby, sober and full of warmth, welcomes us in a fully Argentine atmosphere, though all the dancers are of many nationalities except that of the Tango country. A reception area and bar, a cozy changing room complete with squeaky clean toilets, a hall outside for the summer, elegant, and decorated with a true grape wine (!), And three dance halls, two for teaching and is a great for teaching that for cultural events and dance. An elegant and well-appointed living room, allows couples the real formal or informal contact provided by cabeceo old style Tango and a beautiful piano-style decor, are the ornament to a choice and passionate music, which really involves also the more hard musical ears.
Talking to them, they said that "everything was a news that came from Buenos Ayres, where we had extensively researched and tested ourselves in the last place, as the vanguard Tango Club. We danced especially early in an open style with lots of big moves so it was a little wild, like style. Cuartito Nuevo is the continuation of a change that is already deployed in Delftsestraat. The classes are more and more focused on dance and talk. We prefer more subtlety with particular attention to your partner".

"We met in the world of tango accidentally, about twenty years ago. We have had and still have a real
relationship, day and night, and we complement each other to achieve the best results." Marieke told.
"A lot of friends come to dance, and lots of cultural events happened, and it will still planned, to give pleasure to our students, between 30 and 70 years.
We find that the Tango competitions do not really belong to Tango. We prefer talent and inspiration along with sharing and collaboration, as well as being the best. "Hugo added.
“In September, the Cuarteto Fabian Carbone has provided the music for the show, in October was a big orchestra that played for them, and in December, the Codart Orchestra of Rotterdam Conservatory has been at the school to play for the dancers.”

The more we were with them talking and watching the couples dancing and the more we could think what the world needs this dance, which recently has increased the altars of celebrities also for the fact that many schools of medicine and psychiatry in the world, are able to underline like music and tango movements can correct the most serious problems of socialization of people with Parkinson's, autism and depression.
"We know this aspect, we would like to try to get into this practice by a lady who had a lot of experience, but we are currently too busy with existing classes, that we become devoted to other aspects of the dance. For sure it will be a commitment for the coming seasons. "He explains Marieke.
“Since we've been in this school to teach, we are not more the same, we have improved, our rapport torque is even more intense and alive and be in contact with so many people makes us feel useful and fulfilled, " Hendrik added to our questions.

"End the job and come here in the evening to teach, it means to me to be a woman alive, useful and satisfied. I never imagined that dancing and teaching tango would not have been a more banal woman as before. I now live in symbiosis with the dance and the tiredness or the problems of the life are anymore longer a punishment, but an act of the day to deal with serenity, "says Regina.

We are taking pictures and watching the couples who follow the teachings of the docent, and after a glass of Merlot we take our leave with the promise to return no more as journalists, but dance students of the most sought dances of history.
