Thousands of Tourists Participate in Fishing Festival in Guizhou

Thousands of tourists and local residents participated in a fishing festival in Shibing County in southwest China's Guizhou Province on Monday.
As a traditional custom in Guizhou Province, the local Miao people would put carp larvae into paddy fields every spring, and catch the big fish in autumn.
This custom has turned into an eco-tourism project now. The organizer has put over 10,000 kilograms of carp into a 6.7-hectare paddy field for people to catch.
The fishing tools here are different from those in other places. People can cage fish and and catch the fish from the top of the cage, before putting them into creels.
In addition, a number of sturgeons have also been put into the field for people to catch, with each one being over two meters long and over 50 kilograms in weight.
