La Regata Storica di Venezia

Sebbene possa sembrare solo un evento prettamente turistico, la Regata Storica di Venezia, è un evento per sè stessa, per la città e per la sua storia, per la gente che fieramente difende la sua storia.

Oggi prima settimana di settembre, domenica, si sta svolgendo la famosissima regata, alla quale partecipano varie categorie di barche e di atleti di differenti età. Pur essendo molto spettacolare la scesa in acqua di antiche imbarcazioni, splendidamente decorate e con equipaggi indossanti costumi tradizionali dell'epoca, la gara più sentita è quella dei gondolini, durante la quale il pubblico tifa ognuno per il proprio rematore.

La regata rievoca il corteo di barche che salutò Caterina Cornaro, regina di Cipro, nel 1489, come ringraziamento per aver donato il suo regno a Venezia.

Although it may seem like just a purely tourist event, the Historical Regatta of Venice, is an

event in itself, for the city and for its history, for the people who fiercely defends its history.

Today the first week of September, Sunday, is being held the famous regatta, which brings together various categories of boats and athletes of different ages. Although very spectacular fell in the water of ancient boats, beautifully decorated and with crews donning traditional costumes of the time, the race is one of the most heartfelt gondolini, during which the audience cheering everyone for their rower.

The race commemorates the procession of boats that greeted Caterina Cornaro, Queen of Cyprus, in 1489, as a thank for having given her kingdom to Venice.
